Baby bouncers and swings: Australian safety guide
A bouncer or swing can provide a place for a short period of supervised awake play. It is optional, and it is not somewhere to leave your baby while you shower or do a task that prevents you from watching them.
This guide includes one currently available Australian product example and explains why two older shopping recommendations have been withdrawn. A retailer listing, soothing feature or customer review does not prove safety, compliance or suitability for your baby.

Awake, supervised and on the floor
Use bouncers, rockers and swings on a flat floor away from stairs, heaters, cords and other hazards. Stay close and supervise your baby throughout use. Fasten the supplied harness every time, follow the exact instructions, and remove your baby before making adjustments. Never carry a baby in the product.
These products are not safe sleep spaces, even when an adult is nearby. If your baby falls asleep, move them to a suitable firm, flat, level sleep space on their back, with their head and face uncovered.
When to stop
The ACCC bouncer, rocker and swing guide says to stop using the product when your baby starts to roll. Also follow any earlier age, weight, size or developmental limit in the exact model’s instructions. Do not assume an advertised six-month age range applies to every baby.
What to check before buying
Check the exact model, Australian supplier, safety warnings, harness, stable base, assembly and adjustment instructions, and recall information. From 19 January 2026, the Australian information standard requires visible warnings that these products are not for infant sleep or unsupervised use. An overseas offer is not proof of Australian compliance.

Recall check: mamaRoo 4
Australia’s recall covers mamaRoo models 4M-005, 1026 and 1037. Restraint straps can hang below the empty seat and entangle a child, creating a strangulation risk. Check the model number on the base. Keep an affected product away from children until the recall’s strap fastener has been fitted. Follow the ACCC recall notice for the remedy. A swing must never be used for sleep.

Exercise-product recommendations on hold
Exercise jumpers and activity centres have different developmental requirements from infant bouncers. Do not use a product before its stated requirements are met or rely on a customer review to override the instructions.

Powered swing checks
A powered swing’s movement, sounds or vibration do not make it a sleep space. Before considering a powered product, check the Australian electrical supply requirements, exact instructions, harness, warnings and developmental limits. Use it on a flat floor while supervising your awake baby, and remove your baby before adjustments.
The Happy Safari is a vibrating infant bouncer with a removable toy bar, melodies and a washable seat pad. The selected offer is sold and dispatched by Amazon AU. It is a different model from the previously linked Playful Pinwheels.
Model and safe-use checks
The product title and 11508 part number match Kids2’s Bright Starts Happy Safari model. Amazon’s brand field currently says Baby Einstein, so check the exact product and instructions when ordering. This is a feature comparison, not certification of compliance or a hands-on test.
